Social Development Department Minister Sisisi Tolashe has pledged her support and commitment to improving South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) providers in the course of an engagement along with the agency's senior supervisors in a strategic scheduling session in Cape Town.
Tolashe on Tuesday expressed her heartfelt congratulations to the many social grant beneficiaries, who excelled from the 2024 matric final exams.
From the 724 156 full-time learners who registered with the National Senior Certification (NSC), 572 338 are social grant beneficiaries, representing 81% on the registered pupils during the training sector.
These learners achieved a commendable pass rate of 86%.
"This means the expenditure national government is producing during the life of very poor and vulnerable small children is yielding a constructive effect in breaking intergenerational poverty," Tolashe stated.
